A Bayfront Park Daphne, AL Engagement

Meet Lauren and Vincent, one of my sweet 2019 couples! Vincent is the younger brother of one of my sister’s friends. His aunt was my first grade teacher. One of his other sisters is best friends with one of my 2018 brides. Despite all these connections, we didn’t know each other until the day of this shoot! How crazy is that?!

Lauren and Vincent have known each other since high school. After Lauren’s family bought a property next to Vincent’s family’s bay house, the two became fast friends. Soon after they started dating and have been together ever since. They both have such kind and gentle personalities, the kind that make you feel like you’ve known them forever. I love that they selected Bayfront Park in Daphne, Ala. for their engagement session. The bay is so special to them and they love taking walks together through this park.

If I could give only one piece of advice about engagement sessions, it would be to pick a location that is special to you, or makes you so happy that you’ll love spending the time in that place taking portraits. I loved that Lauren pointed out all their favorite spots as we walked along the paths at this park. I had been to this park many times before, but Lauren and Vincent showed me spots I’d never visited before that I absolutely loved! It was inspiring!

The forecast predicted rain the day of this session, but to my surprise, the sun actually came out for part of the time. We ended up having a bit of light left at the end of the shoot, so I asked Lauren and Vincent if they were game for going to a random spot I’d been wanting to shoot at for a while. I am so thankful for clients that trust me and are game for trying out ideas like this one! We stopped at the location I’d spotted and, oh my stars, it was amazing!!! I was already so pumped about the photos we’d taken at the park, so I was over the top excited that this spot turned out to be just what I envisioned!

I couldn’t get over how blue Lauren’s eyes are! So gorgeous!

Lauren loves the outdoors and greenery. I really had high hopes for this spot and it exceeded what I envisioned in my mind! Photographers definitely see locations differently than most people. To the average person this definitely does not look like an ideal portrait location, but to me it was amazing!!!
