A Downtown Mobile AL Spring Engagement

I first met Ann and Joseph at a wedding that I photographed a couple years ago. Among the hustle and bustle of the wedding day, it’s sometimes hard to keep track of all the bridesmaids and groomsmen, but I remembered Ann for her sweet and easy-going nature. Ann is also friends with one of my other sweet 2019 brides, Kelly! It is so much fun to work with brides who are part of the same friend group . It’s one reason that I love photographing weddings in my home town. Ann and Joseph are another couple that went to my same high school, McGill-Toolen. Ann’s brother and cousin were both in my class! We could probably talk for hours about all our small world connections. That’s Mobile for ya and I love it!

Ann and Joseph are planning a classic downtown Mobile wedding, so they decided to incorporate both her wedding venues into their engagement session. I absolutely love photographing weddings at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and it’s so wonderful to be able to walk just a couple blocks away to the Ezell House for a reception after a cathedral ceremony. It was a breezy spring afternoon the day we met up for this shoot. I typically photograph engagement sessions on weekdays since my weekends are spent photographing weddings. This time of year, when the sunset is later, it means that we get a lot of the streets to ourselves, because downtown is quieter after 5 o’clock. It’s awesome! Yes, there is always a lot of activity around Cathedral Square, but the other locations we went to were relatively traffic free!

It had been quite a while since I’d photographed anything at the Ezell House, but I ended up there twice in the same week – once for this engagement session and again for Emily and Patrick’s wedding on Saturday! It’s going to be a busy week on the blog that’s for sure!

I absolutely loved Ann’s earrings by Shop Sorella! They were perfect for pairing with her beautiful engagement ring for some ring shots!

Three sweet brides! I happened to capture this photo of Kelly, Elyse, and Ann at Kelly and Philip’s wedding reception earlier this year. I’ve absolutely loved working with all three of these lovely ladies as their wedding photographer!
