A St. Dominic Catholic Church Wedding

I first met Sarah when she was working at Soiree Signatures, which is owned by her amazingly talented cousin, Lindsey. At that time I was working on photography for the Soiree Signatures website and Sarah was frequently at the shop while I was there styling and photographing stationery suites. Sarah and I would ooh and ahhh over the beautiful paper.

As time went on, I’d run into Sarah at weddings I was photographing and started to connect the dots that she was related to some of my other clients. I truly love what a small world Mobile is and finding those family ties that run through people I know independently of one another is always fun.

Shortly before Sarah and Spencer got engaged, I learned that I knew Spencer’s mom (the small world gets smaller)! In short, their wedding day was like a fun reunion, where I got to see so many people that are special to me that I haven’t seen in a while – all who love this exceptionally sweet couple. Truly, they are some of the best people you’ll meet!

Even with cars lining both sides of the Avenue of the Oaks (where we planned to take portraits after the ceremony) and high school seniors everywhere taking prom photos, Sarah and Spencer did not seem bothered one bit. And let me tell you, those two things combined were a LOT to navigate and I don’t know that many couples could stay so calm and carefree in such a scenario!

Thanks to their trust and patience, we were able to get portraits on the Avenue of the Oaks without cars…and, no, I did not retouch the photos to remove cars! It all came down to finding the right angle to hide what we didn’t want to see. Thanks to Sarah and Spencer’s amazing bridal party, we were able to make these photos happen!

Back in the day, I remember Sarah saying, “I hope you can photograph my wedding one day.” It was a complete JOY to get to do so!  Cheers to the newly Mr. and Mrs. Johnson!
