A Grand Hotel Engagement

It’s two Grand Hotel blog posts in a row! I was just there last Saturday for Sherish and Taylor’s wedding and I returned later in the week for an engagement session with Jessica and Quentin. This location is such a dream! I’m still over here doing a happy dance that we had beautiful sunsets both days!

Jessica and Quentin met while they were both students at LSU. They settled in Mobile after graduation when Quentin took a job in her hometown. The first time I talked to Jessica on the phone, she told me they wanted their wedding weekend to have a relaxed, fun vibe. Relaxed and fun are the exact words that I would use to describe these two as a couple. They were so chill during their engagement session that I would think they modeled for portraits every day! I have no doubt their wedding celebration will be a fun day!

I often have couples ask to bring pets to their engagement session and I love incorporating them into portraits! Jessica and Quentin’s friend brought their sweet dog, Penny, for a few pictures at the beginning of the session. Let me tell you this dog was just a star! Jessica said that she adopted Penny on somewhat of a whim, but that it was clearly meant to be because she is the best pup ever. She literally smiled for the camera. It was adorable!

Our original session date was rained out, so I was a bit worried when it started raining mid way through this shoot. Thankfully, Jessica and Quentin didn’t let it bother them one bit. Instead we decided to use the rain shower as a sign it was time for them to change into their second outfits. The rain stopped just as they finished changing. Talk about perfect timing! In the end, we had beautiful weather for the majority of the shoot. On top of that, we had the beach pretty much to ourselves for sunset portraits. It was seriously a photographer’s dream!
