A Washington Square Park Engagement

What a whirlwind the last half of this year has been! I can hardly believe this week is wrapping up 2015. I’ll have an end of the year post coming up soon, but I wanted to go ahead and share one last session preview with you for the year. This very special engagement session was nothing short of spectacular. Alex, my cousin, proposed to his longtime girlfriend, the ever sweet and adorable, Taylor, this past fall. Our family couldn’t be happier for them and I was SO excited to do their engagement portraits! 😀

The weather was mild on the December day that we did this shoot. It’s crazy how warm this month has been, but it has been nice for all of my late fall/early winter portrait sessions. We started at Washington Square Park in the Oakleigh district because it was a friendly location for including Alex and Taylor’s dog, Bear, in some portraits. Bear, is the fluffiest, cuddliest dog in the world and I’m so glad they included him in a few of their portraits (well, maybe “few” is the wrong word…he was in a lot of the portraits because he is so darn photogenic!).

Alex and Taylor will be getting married at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Mobile next June, so Taylor suggested shooting downtown to incorporate the city into their engagement portraits. I loved the idea! So fun! We even bumped into Alex’s sister, Amber, and her husband, Luke, whose engagement session was featured here on the blog last December! This was a total impromptu run-in, but of course we squeezed them into a few photos just for fun. One of my favorite shots is Taylor’s reaction to Amber and Luke calling out to us.

We ended Alex and Taylor’s session after sunset to capture the glow of the cathedral at night. I have many favorite photographs from their session, but those night shots turned out to be some of my absolute favorites, so be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of this post to see those shots. Enjoy!

December is engagement season! If you’re recently engaged and looking to mark this special time with engagement portraits, CONTACT ME to reserve your session today!
