A Battle House Hotel Anniversary | Mobile, AL

Ten years of marriage is definitely something to celebrate and Toni and Ashton certainly celebrated in style. When Toni told me before the session that they would be staying at The Battle House hotel and having dinner there the evening of their anniversary to celebrate, I was so excited for them. This was their first time to visit the hotel!

The Battle House just has that special occasion feel to it and it is the perfect location for an anniversary session. I knew we would have a great setting for portraits, but I’ve been wanting to shoot on the terrace at The Battle House since I found out about it last summer. So far, every time I’ve tried to do a session there, or shoot there on a wedding day, the weather and timelines have not made it possible. Since shooting in the terrace area requires special permission, it’s something I wasn’t sure could be arranged or not. Thankfully, the amazing staff at the hotel gave us permission, making it an extra special treat to an already special session for Toni and Ashton. The terrace photos turned out to be some of my favorites from the whole session!

Wardrobe selection is often the hardest part of any portrait session, which is why “What do we wear?” is the number one question I’m asked before every portrait session. These two definitely did not need my help. When Toni sent me her wardrobe inspiration board, I was all like, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE with big puffy heart emojis. I absolutely love that they incorporated hints of blue and silver in their outfits, a nod to the colors of the 10th Anniversary year. Their dressy attire was the perfect compliment to the style of the hotel and made for some extra glamorous portraits. Seriously, a black dress never lets a girl down.

Toni and Ashton are high school sweethearts and you can tell they are just as much in love today as they were the day they said their “I Dos” ten years ago. Toni is also a photographer, so I was especially honored to take these special portraits for them. We were having so much fun that before we knew it our time together was over and Toni and Ashton headed to the dining room for their special dinner.
