Spring Hill College Engagement
I was getting my lenses settled in my bag when I heard a voice say, “Are you Elizabeth?” I looked up and saw Katie and Trent walking towards me from the parking lot. It’s always fun meeting my clients for the first time, especially when we’ve previously only spoken on the phone. I had realized that I wasn’t sure what Katie looked like as I got out of my car. I have walked up to the wrong couple when meeting clients for an engagement session before…lets just say that some spots are very popular and it can sometimes be hard to spot the right couple! As I walked over to meet Katie and Trent, a beautiful yellow lab led the way in the greetings. With a name like Dixie I couldn’t help but love this sweet puppy right off the bat. 🙂
It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly a year since Katie and I first spoke on the phone about her wedding, but the time has flown by! I remember her telling me about how Trent proposed to her while they were in Nashville for New Year’s Eve last December and how much she was looking forward to the wedding, which they were planning for after she finished up with Law School and studying for the Bar exam. Needless to say, Katie is one busy lady, so their engagement session was our first opportunity to meet in person and it was so nice to finally put faces with their names! These two both have such calm spirits, which I think they have definitely transferred to Dixie because I’ve never been able to get so many different portraits with a puppy at a session before. I was AMAZED at how cooperative Dixie was and we didn’t even bribe her with a ton of treats!!! I told them she was trying to steal the show at their session. Haha!
Katie and Trent, I am so looking forward to photographing your wedding this winter! Thank you for such an amazing session and for trusting me to capture these memories for you!
I doubt I’ll ever tire of taking portraits on the Avenue of the Oaks at Spring Hill College, but sometimes it can be a bit tricky to shoot there between the traffic and other photoshoots going on a the same time. Somehow we got lucky and got this area completely to ourselves minus a few cars that passed by and despite the day starting out overcast and cloudy, we ended up with some lovely golden light for the late afternoon!
