Orange Beach, AL Engagement
I couldn’t see any cars in front of me. When I looked in my rearview mirror, all I could see was white. Driving over the bridge that crosses Mobile Bay and connects Mobile and Baldwin counties is something I do several times a week, but I’d never driven over it in such foggy conditions. It was creepy! It was the week before Christmas, but the fog did not come with cold weather. It was muggy and humid when I left Mobile, skies grey and dreary. I thought to myself, what on earth are the conditions going to be when I get to Orange Beach???
I had called C.C. earlier in the day and asked her if she wanted to chance things with the weather (because the forecast was not looking good). C.C. is a medical school student at the University of South Alabama and her fiance, Ross, currently lives in Huntsville. We had scheduled their session for the holidays in order to take advantage of her break from school and him being in town for Christmas. None of us wanted a reschedule, so I said a prayer that the weather would hold and headed for the beach. As bad as the fog was driving over the bay, by the time I made it to Foley I could actually see some blue in the sky! I literally could not believe our good luck!
C.C. and Ross were so laid back and I loved that they brought their adorable golden doodle puppy, Nova, to their session. Nova (named after the Auburn University mascot eagle) could not have been more eager to participate in the session and she even had a special wardrobe for some of the photos. I definitely think this session was meant to be because we found the most beautiful fall foliageΒ at the park we went to for their session (yes, it was technically still fall on Dec. 19th), which perfectly matched the “War Eagle” vibe these two wanted to hint at for some of their engagement photos! π
I loved shooting at the Orange Beach Waterfront Park because it had such a great mix of greenery and waterfront access. I coincidentally had been at this same location a few weeks before this session for Hannah and Trey’s wedding and it’s definitely a great location for both wedding and engagement portraits! Towards the end of the session, we made our way down to the pier for some photos and we could see the fog rolling in across the water. It made for such beautiful, soft, romantic lighting!
C.C. and Ross, I loved taking your engagement portraits and am so looking forward to photographing your wedding next year! I still can’t believe this session wraps up 2017! What a year it has been and how fast it has flown by! Thank you to everyone who has followed along this year. I look forward to sharing more beautiful weddings and engagements with you in 2018!
Look at Nova trying to steal the spotlight here. π Seriously, she is adorable!!!
Did Santa bring you an engagement ring this Christmas??? Now is the time to book Summer and Fall 2018 wedding dates!
