A Bragg-Mitchell Mansion Wedding
Katie and Patrick’s wedding was the last one on my calendar for a very busy May. Looking back on the last four weeks, I cannot believe it went by so fast. It seems like yesterday that I was gearing up for the hectic schedule of April and May. What a wonderful spring season it has been! As we head into the summer season, I’m excited to share a preview of Katie and Patrick’s day. I love this wedding for so many reasons, but for starters, these two sure know how to have fun. When I met them at their engagement session, I could tell their wedding day would be a blast. And it was all that I imagined and more. I mean, who doesn’t love a second line, confetti and animal onesie pajamas?!
Katie was such a fun bride to work with because she was all about keeping the day lighthearted and fun for her friends. When I arrived at the getting ready location, Katie and all her bridesmaids were wearing animal onesie pajamas. It was seriously one of the most fun things I’ve seen in a while. Her bridesmaids felt like friends immediately, even though I’d never met them ahead of wedding day. I think that’s because Katie is the type of person that everyone loves and, therefore, her friends are cut from the same cloth. One of my favorite moments of the wedding day were the maids-of-honor toasts. Katie’s two best friends, Ivy and Michelle both gave some of the sweetest speeches I’ve ever heard. In the midst of all the cheerfulness and laughter, that was the moment that nearly brought tears to everyone’s eyes.
Patrick is equally as jovial as Katie and photographing the two of them together just put a smile on my face. I loved that despite the constant changes in our game plan due to the weather, both Katie and Patrick stayed in the moment, ready for whatever I suggested. When we arrived at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception ahead of the ceremony, I felt a few rain drops fall from the sky. I prayed that we would be able to at least get the pre-ceremony portraits taken outside before the rain started. During family portraits I felt more rain drops, but after that it seemed to stop. At the reception, Katie’s brother said that he was watching the radar all day and that we were on the edge of the storm clouds at the church. Talk about lucky!
After a beautiful Catholic wedding ceremony in downtown Mobile, everyone headed to the Bragg-Mitchell Mansion for the reception. Let me tell you, Katie and Patrick know how to have a good time! They were on the dance floor most of the night, as were all of their friends. After the cake-cutting, a second-line led everyone back to the dance floor for more music and dancing. The night ended with an LSU-fan favorite, Callin’ Baton Rouge. I seem to have worked with a lot of LSU alums this spring season and I have to say that documenting the reception while Callin’ Baton Rouge is playing never gets old.
Katie and Patrick, thank you for having me be part of your day! It was truly a pleasure and I hope you’re enjoying the Italian sunshine!
One of my favorite photos from the entire day because this is SO Katie and Patrick! Aren’t they so fun?!
Bring on the second line!!! I love this New Orleans tradition!
I think these two could have danced for two more hours! Their energy was infectious!
The best wedding days are those filled with love, joy and dancing!
