A Bragg-Mitchell Mansion Bridal Session
It was supposed to storm the day of Katlin’s bridal session. We debated rescheduling. We looked at other possible dates, but it all put us too close to wedding day. In the end, we decided to stick to our original plan. I checked the hour-by-hour forecast all day long. Yes, we could take all the portraits indoors if we had to, but I knew Katlin was dreaming of portraits that showcased the beautiful outdoor setting. I prayed that the weather would hold off so her dream could come true!
A few hours before the session, the sun came out and the sky was clear! I could not believe it!!! Katlin arrived with her stunning gown and veil, bringing along both her mom and her now mother-in-law to help us keep the dress pristine. The rain held off for the entire time! Praise the Lord! Katlin was just glowing with happiness the minute she put the dress on. I couldn’t have loved the shoot more and am still in disbelief at how we lucked out with the weather.
One of my favorite things about a bridal session is getting to spend that girls only time with the bride. Most of my brides also bring their mom, or their sister, or future mother-in-law to their session and it’s so much fun to get to know everyone ahead of wedding day. When the big day arrives, it truly feels like you’re one of the family because you’ve spent this extra time together.
I also love that bridal sessions allow us time to take more solo portraits of the bride than we’d have time for on wedding day. Brides spend so much time hunting for THE dress, so it deserves it’s time in the spotlight! Plus, you get to find out if there is anything you need to have on hand on wedding day to make getting into the dress go quickly when time is of the essence (ex: the infamous crochet hook)! Check out this post for tips on preparing for your bridal session!
Now, y’all know the hardest part of a bridal session is the wait to share the photos! Now that Katlin is officially a Mrs., I’m excited to share some of my favorites of her bridal portraits! Enjoy!
If you’re wondering, yes, I was in veil shot heaven!!! Thank you to Cindy and Kathy for making these photos happen!!!
I absolutely love a soft color palette in a bride bouquet. This bouquet by Belle Bouquet was perfection!
This is a must-have portrait for a Bragg-Mitchell Mansion bridal portrait session! And I always love it in black and white!
