A St. Dominic’s Catholic Church Wedding
My fall wedding season began this past Saturday, but in Mobile it still feels like summer. Sharon and Brandon didn’t let the record-breaking heat dampen their spirits. Their day was so full of JOY! Their happiness was contagious! You can’t be around these two and not smile from ear-to-ear. When I met up with Brandon ahead of the First Look, he was already beaming with pride. When I opened the door to the room where Sharon was waiting and told her it was time to see her groom, she nearly squealed with excitement. I knew we were in for a lot of sweet moments throughout this day and the First Look was only the beginning!
I also love that I got to see two of my other brides at this wedding! Annie, who you’ll meet later this fall, was one of Sharon’s bridesmaids. I’ll be photographing her wedding this December and it was so much fun having her be part of Sharon’s wedding day. I also ran into one of my 2020 couples, Libby and Hunter, at the wedding reception! I loved getting to catch up with them! All three of these ladies have been friends since their days at McGill-Toolen Catholic High school (also my alma mater…although I graduated quite a few years before they did)!
One extra special part of this Catholic wedding was the fact that Sharon’s uncle, who is a priest in the Archdiocese of Mobile, was able to officiate the Nuptial Mass. Sharon is Fr. Steve’s only niece and he certainly had everyone in tears with his sweet stories about Sharon growing up. I can tell just from his homily that Sharon has been a joyful person her entire life. I just love that about her. It turns out that Fr. Steve knew Brandon’s family before Sharon did through his time serving at another parish in town. Then Sharon and Brandon met in high school and the rest is history!
Heirlooms to Treasure
Weddings offer me the opportunity to preserve moments for a couple to treasure for a lifetime. The wedding photographs are the first heirloom of a bride and groom’s new family. When I walked into the reception hall and saw the wedding photos of Sharon’s and Brandon’s parents and grandparents displayed, I smiled at the reminder of just how precious these moments are. It reminded me why I love weddings so much and why it’s a gift to capture these fleeting moments of a wedding day.
Congratulations Sharon and Brandon! Thank you for letting me document all the joy of your special day!
How sweet are these bridesmaids?! Their reaction to seeing Sharon in her dress was the best!
Such a beautiful First Look moment!
I love this shot that my second photographer, Aimee, took during bride and groom portrait time!
Another one of my favorites that Aimee took during the ceremony!
Possibly one of my favorite First Dance photos of all time! They’re just such happy people!
So much fun seeing Libby and Hunter! Of course I had to get a photo with them!
Sharon told me she wanted a McGill-Toolen Class of 2014 photo at the reception. I didn’t realize it would be this big of a group, but I love that it was! Go Jackets!
