A Fairhope Alabama Engagement
I brag on my brides all the time because I truly get to work with some of the kindest ladies! They are the type of girls I’d want to be friends with and we usually are by the time wedding day arrives! After this weekend’s three engagement sessions, I was reminded that I also get to work with some pretty awesome grooms. Guys who are gentlemanly and take great care of their brides-to-be. I just love getting to see how my couples interact with each other during the engagement session and I often pause between shooting spots to see how they naturally interact with each other. It helps me pose them in ways that feel natural and not too forced.
Marlye and Peyton also have a super sweet proposal story. My grooms certainly know how to plan the perfect proposal! Marlye was expecting Peyton to propose the day of her college graduation. It all made sense because their families would be together and they’d all be dressed up. But it didn’t happen. Marlye said she was slightly disappointed, but that Peyton blew her away the very next day with his carefully planned proposal.
A Carefully Planned Proposal
Marlye was at home working on household chores when she heard a knock on her front door. When she opened the door she found her four best friends standing outside. That was when she knew something was going on. Her friends told her to get dressed and come with them. Peyton had planned for Marlye and her friends to visit different places that were special to the two of them. At each stop, Marlye received a handwritten note from Peyton. Finally, they ended up at their friend’s cabin on the Okatoma River and Peyton was waiting for her! Now y’all understand why I say I need to brag on my grooms too!
Marlye and Peyton were up for anything and everything I suggested during their session. I loved that they were both excited and laid back at the same time. I returned to downtown Fairhope for the second day in a row for this engagement session and I knew I wanted to use different spots from the day before, while still capturing the Fairhope feel. It was fun to use some of the same spots in different ways based on the lighting for the day.
It was cloudy for most of the session, so I was beyond excited when the sun peeked out from behind the clouds towards the end of the shoot. Enjoy my favorites from this session and get ready for one more engagement preview tomorrow!
The sky was absolutely gorgeous when the sun went down behind the trees on the bluff. At the last minute, we decided to walk down to the Fairhope pier to watch the sunset and grab a few last portraits!
