A Grand Hotel Engagement Session

I met Sarah years ago when she was working for her cousin’s stationery business, Soiree Signatures. At the time, I had no idea how many times our paths would cross, or that I’d end up working with her as her wedding photographer. Sarah was always so sweet and I loved getting to chat with her when I’d visit Soiree for a shoot (or to shop!).

We didn’t run into each other for a few years, but in 2024 I reconnected with Sarah at Madeleine and George’s wedding! It turned out that she and Madeleine were also cousins. I had also photographed Sarah’s mom and knew of her dad from my early days of learning to play tennis. My mind is always blown by what a big small town the Mobile Bay area is…it truly never ceases to amaze me!

I met Spencer at Madeleine and George’s rehearsal dinner. He and Sarah have known each other since they were in grade school at St. Dominic’s. It’s a good-old-fashioned Catholic school love story. When I met Spencer, I actually thought to myself that I hoped I’d get to photograph their wedding one day. They were just such a sweet couple!

Fast forward several months and I was working on a project for Corpus Christi Catholic School. I was talking with Lynn, one of our teachers, and she mentioned her son was going to be getting engaged soon. I was all, awe, that is soooo exciting! I was completely unaware at the time that Lynn’s son was Spencer!!!

When Sarah texted me the happy news that she and Spencer were engaged, I finally put together the pieces of the puzzle. All the different connections were finally woven together! Clearly, Sarah and Spencer were meant to be one of my couples for 2026. I cannot tell you what a delight it was to finally get them in front of my camera for an engagement session!

We met up at the Grand Hotel in Point Clear, Alabama for their engagement session. The resort rolled out an updated (and very strict) photography policy since I last did a session there. It was interesting to visit a place that I’m so familiar with and challenge myself to see it anew. I was still able to use some of my favorite locations, but others were off-limits per the new policy. I took it as a creative challenge to find new spots that were in the areas we were allowed to use. I was so thankful that Sarah and Spencer were so easy-going and trusting. I just know wedding day with them is going to be a dream!
