A Mobile Bay Bride Styled Shoot
I’ve said on this blog before that when I started my photography business, I thought I’d never shoot a wedding. I always LOVED wedding photography and would buy wedding magazines for inspiration, but for some reason I thought I wasn’t meant to photograph weddings. That all seems so silly now that weddings are one of my favorite things to shoot. I LOVE photographing weddings! Even before I was hooked on photographing actual weddings, I always dreamed of doing a styled wedding shoot. It just seemed like it would be the most fun job ever. Thus, when I received an email asking if I wanted to photograph a Kate Spade inspired styled shoot for Mobile Bay Bride Magazine, I immediately said yes and started counting down the days until the shoot.
There were SO many amazingly talented people that made this shoot possible. We shot at the History Museum of Mobile and they could not have been more accommodating to us. We seriously took over the place for most of the day. We also had the sweetest models you could ever ask to work with and they totally rocked this shoot. All the vendors that supplied us with gowns, jewelry, china, furniture, flowers, stationary and sweets were a TOTAL DREAM! I kept saying to Lawren, editor of Mobile Bay Bride, “this is the best shoot EVER!” We of course put in a lot of hard work, but we had such an awesome team and were having so much fun that it really didn’t feel like work.
The worst part of the whole assignment was the wait between taking the photographs and publication! We shot this story several months ago, so I have been anxiously waiting to share these images for a while. Now that the magazine is out, I’m excited to share some of my favorites from the shoot on the blog. What a wonderful way to kick off 2017!
A huge thank you to the staff at Mobile Bay Bride for asking me to do this shoot. Below is a look at some behind-the-scenes fun. From left to right: Assistant Editor, Breck Pappas, helps me test my light before the shoot (we clearly have too much fun with that part of the day); Executive Editor, Lawren Largue, makes sure every detail is in place for our table settings; the Mobile Bay team (Chelsea Adams, Lawren Largue and Breck Pappas) with Julia Greer Fobes, the talented florist that designed the bouquets and arrangements for this shoot.
