A little over a year ago, I stumbled across this little bakery that had just opened in the heart of Springhill. The smell that wafted out from the open door was heavenly! Inside this tiny little bakery, aptly named Bake My Day, was a case full of the most delicious-looking sweets. The cake they had for sale by the slice reminded me of going to my great-grandmother’s house when I was a kid. She always seemed to have a pound cake ready and waiting in case company should come calling.
Paula and Pam, a mother/daughter team and part owners of the bakery, make everything from scratch. The cakes, cookies, bars and chicken salad (they have some lunch items too!) are based on classic southern recipes. There’s not a bit of fondant or a preservative in sight and, as soon as you walk in, Paula will greet you with a big smile and Pam will make you feel like you’re family.
I am currently working on photographing many of the sweet treats served at Bake My Day and thought I’d share a teeny, tiny preview of a session I had last week with an amazing subject–a fabulous German Chocolate cake. I apologize in advance if this post makes you have a sugar craving. Want to get an amazing cake for your next event, or just a cookie to treat yourself to an afternoon snack? Visit Bake My Day at the corner of Old Shell Road and McGregor Avenue (right between Mr. Sam’s and Compass Bank) and enjoy the dilemma of deciding on which dessert to try first.
