A Dauphin Island Engagement
I LOVE shooting at beach locations in the winter months. Locations that are super crowded in the summer are deserted and we don’t have to deal with the extreme heat. Talk about two big bonuses of winter shooting! When Kaitlyn and Robbie told me Dauphin Island was their preferred location for their engagement photos and they were totally fine with shooting there in the winter, I was so excited.
I suggested we start out the session at Cadillac Square. I knew this location had lots of evergreen oak trees, which would be perfect for photos with Kaitlyn and Robbie’s dogs. Speaking of their pups, they were ADORABLE and so well behaved! Wait until you see their solo puppy portraits!
For our second location we headed down to the beach. It was an overcast day, but not crazy cold. I was so impressed these two were game for going barefoot. They assured me that they love the outdoors so going barefoot felt natural to them. As we used up the final minutes of light, I turned and noticed the sky was turning pink! I couldn’t believe we’d had a hint of glow earlier in the session and now we were getting a colorful sky at sunset! Was this really happening on such a cloudy day?!
We dashed towards the area of beach where I knew we could capture the color in the sky. Thanks to Robbie’s dad who rushed from the parking lot to meet us with the dogs, we made it to the spot just in time to capture some photos of all of them with the gorgeous light! If their wedding day is half as dreamy as their engagement session, I know I’ll be having just as hard of a time narrowing down photos for their wedding day blog post as I did for this post! Enjoy an abundance of my favorites!
