A Sacred Heart Chapel Wedding
Record heat was in the forecast for the day of Margaret and Pat’s wedding. As the day drew near, I was truly concerned about everyone getting overheated during portrait time. I packed extra water in my ice chest and prayed we’d be able to find plenty of shade during mid-afternoon portraits on the bay. Maybe we’d get a bay breeze and that would cool us off.
When wedding day arrived, the skies were overcast and rain was off in the distance all afternoon. It was a little concerning that rain was so close by all day, but the clouds brought us cooler temperatures and beautiful soft lighting. It was a best-case scenario for the end of June! We heard thunder in the distance just as Margaret was getting into her wedding gown. Thankfully, Pat and the guys got ready only a few houses down from the girls so we were able to push everything up a bit on our timeline.
An Unexpected Blessing
We made it through the first look and a few bride and groom portraits before we felt any raindrops. Since we were ahead of schedule at this point, we headed back indoors until the trolley came to take us to the church. Miraculously, the rain paused long enough for us to get all portraits completed outside at Sacred Heart Chapel. Seriously, the rain started up again right as we were getting set for the ceremony. It couldn’t have been more perfect timing wise!
The rain stopped once again not long after we arrived at The Hope Farm for the reception. I still can’t get over how it all turned out! The rain truly was an unexpected blessing! Margaret, Pat, their families and friends had the best time dancing the night away. At the end of the night, I found myself hardly believing we’d made it to the end of the spring/summer wedding season! It has been a jam-packed few months and this was a great way to end a very busy season! Cheers to the newly Mr. and Mrs. Abele!
Since the rain wasn’t too far off, we stayed close to the bay house for Margaret and Pat’s first look. This meant everyone was watching from inside during this moment. I loved this reaction of Margaret and Pat waving to everyone!
I love this next photo taken by my second photographer, Regina! I always love secondary angles during bride and groom portrait time!
Candid moments are often some of my favorites. I love this moment between Margaret and Pat while we were taking a break from photos due to the rain!
