A Bragg-Mitchell Mansion Portrait Session

It was a hot summer afternoon the day of Ashland’s portrait session, but you’d never know it from these photos! Last year, I was lucky enough to photograph Ashland’s sister, who was an Azalea Trail Maid on the 2022-2023 court. I think it’s so amazing that two sisters are serving on the court in back-to-back years!

Ashland is just as sweet as her sister, Kaitlin, and I loved getting to work with their family two years in a row. It’s been a while since I’ve photographed a lavender Azalea Trail Maid dress and it was fun to see that color pop against the lush green scenery at the Bragg-Mitchell Mansion.

In addition to the honor of being on the Azalea Trail Maid Court, Ashland also has the honor of serving as the Second Lady in Waiting to the Azalea Trail Maid Queen. In this role, Ashland found herself with a full calendar of appearances right away. On the day of this session, she was looking forward to the Independence Day Parade that the Azalea Trail Maids were going to be part of the following week.

With each of my Azalea Trail Maid sessions, I love getting to know the girls and seeing the beautiful details of their dresses. The detail on the apron of Ashland’s dress was one of my favorite elements of her dress design. I can only imagine the time it took to do such beautiful work!

Ashland’s dress was designed by Anna Marie Phelps of Peanut Butter – N – Jelly Kids.

She is representing Satsuma High School on the 2023-2024 Azalea Trail Maid Court.
