A Christ the King Catholic Church Wedding

Both of my January weddings had me spending time with families I’ve known for years. Best of all, I got to see past brides of mine at both of these weddings. This year marks 10 years since I first dipped my toe into the world of photographing couples. Back before I got interested in photographing weddings, I photographed Brooke’s grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary party. This was WAY before I was even thinking about starting a photography business! Before I was into photography, my dad frequently took candid photos for Mr. and Mrs. Gottstine at some of their family gatherings back in the day!

Brooke’s grandparents and my late grandparents were dear friends. Both couples had six children, many were the same age. I always remember my grandmother telling the story of telling Mrs. Gottstine she was pregnant with baby number six and Mrs. Gottstine revealing she was also pregnant with her sixth child. Both ended up having their baby girls in the same month! Over the years, our families crossed paths – often catching up at big events like wedding receptions. I still remember going to Brooke’s Aunt Terri’s wedding and thinking her dress was so pretty.

A few years ago I photographed Brendan’s brother’s wedding, so I was super excited to work with two families I already knew! It was bitterly cold the day of Brooke and Brendan’s wedding. I think the last time I was this cold at a wedding was way back in 2017 when I photographed Hannah and Trey’s wedding on a day that it semi snowed! Thankfully, the sun was shining most of the afternoon for Brooke and Brendan’s day, which helped make outdoor photos bearable.

After a beautiful Nuptial Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church in Daphne, we headed back to the west side of the bay for a reception at the Ezell House. Thankfully, the tent and plenty of heaters kept the dance floor full all night. A good time was had by all!

I don’t usually blog family portraits because I’m always down to the wire getting these posts together with just the wedding day highlights, but I couldn’t pass up including this portrait of Mr. and Mrs. Gottstine in this post! I’ve come a long way with my photography since I photographed their 50th wedding anniversary party!

I loved running into Mary Catherine and Russel and Sharon and Brandon at this wedding! Mary Catherine and Russel’s adorable son was the ring bearer.
