A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to get my hands on some fresh eggs, courtesy of my cousin, Cassie, and my aunt, Gina. You might remember this blog post from back in the spring. Well, believe it or not, those baby chicks are all grown up and have started laying eggs. I never turn down fresh eggs, so when Cassie brought some over, I was thrilled. As soon as I saw them, I knew they were going to get photographed before they were eaten. The colors were just too beautiful to not be captured.

I love the styling aspect of food shoots and regularly search antique and consignment shops for items that will lend both texture, color and character to my food photographs. The day Cassie brought the eggs by, I just happened to have some newly acquired props that I’d been wanting to try out. The antique towel and rustic wood background are from one of my favorite booths at Antiques at the Loop. Seriously, I could shop this booth every week and find something fabulous. Best of all, the eggs were equally as delicious as they were pretty. Sadly, the food I made with them did not last long enough to be photographed…sometimes my stomach lacks patience! 🙂
