Well it’s been a busy two weeks of shooting. I’ve had the opportunity to work with some wonderful families lately (session sneak peaks coming soon!), as well as two more food shoots with Bake My Day. This week’s session sneak peak is of Bake My Day’s Lemon Glazed Pound Cake. I was so excited to photograph this cake. As I’ve said before, the cakes at Bake My Day always remind me of my great-grandmother, Mamaw Jones. I don’t ever remember going to visit Mamaw when she didn’t have a fresh pound cake on hand. I think she took a pound cake to practically every baby shower, church luncheon or pot-luck dinner she attended. She was known for her pound cake. It’s one of those recipes that has been handed down in our family. Photographing this pound cake made me think of Mamaw and her pound cake. I love that Bake My Day has added a bit of lemon zest to their glaze. It lends a lightness to the cake and gives it such a summery feel. Who doesn’t love pound cake? It’s a southern staple. Feast with your eyes!
