A Spring Hill College Session | Mobile, AL
When the Katz family arrived for their portrait session I had to contain my excitement over the gorgeous French Heirloom dress that Frances was wearing. My mom always made dresses for my sister and I when we were kids and I learned to sew at a young age. I have always been in awe of French Heirloom gowns and their intricate laces and embroidery. The year I received the Sacrament of Confirmation, Mom took me to Peanut Butter & Jelly kids and hired owner Anna-Marie Phelps to design a special Confirmation dress for me. I went with a simple design to conserve on the cost of the lace, but oh my did I love that dress (yes, I still have it tucked in the back of my closet). The dress that Frances wore for this session reminded me of my dress a bit and so of course I was all jumping up and down inside with excitement over her gown. Even more special was the fact that her mom made the gown with the help of her grandmother.
Besides, my excitement over the gorgeous French Heirloom gown, I was also excited to photograph a colleague’s family. I have been fortunate to work with Marie on several assignments for Mobile Bay Magazine and Business Alabama Magazine. I knew she was super fun to work with and since we had done a magazine shoot at her house, I’d already met her family before. We had such a great time doing their portraits at Spring Hill College. I never get tired of shooting at my Alma Mater and this was no exception. Enjoy! 🙂
