At Home Lifestyle Portraits | Fairhope, AL

The first time I met Laura I knew that we were going to be great friends. We met up for coffee at Starbucks to chat about a wedding that I was second shooting with her. I had been referred to Laura by our mutual friend Kelly, who is also a talented photographer. Our conversation that day reminded me of those kind you have with your high school besties that you haven’t seen in years, but that you are always able to pick up right where you left off the last time you saw each other whenever your paths cross.

On our first wedding together, one of the guests commented that he could tell we had worked together for a long time because of how well we worked together. We smiled and said “thank you” without revealing that we had only met two days prior to that wedding day. Since that wedding, we have worked together several more times and each time we just have so much fun.

When Laura asked me to photograph her family, the first thing she told me was that she wanted to do a shoot at their home, to showcase their family life. I was so excited because I knew it would be a fun session, but I was also a bit nervous because I was taking photographs for another photographer!!! No pressure, right?! 🙂

This was my first in-home lifestyle session that I’ve done in a while and I have to say that it is definitely one of my favorite sessions I’ve ever done. Don’t worry, we did get outside in some golden light at the end of the shoot, but the documentary “day in the life” style photos we took indoors turned out to be some of my favorites. The fleeting moments captured while the girls were just playing and having fun reminded me of photographs I would take when I first got into photography. I hope to do more of these “day in the life” sessions in the future and am so thankful to my dear friend Laura for trusting me with her family’s memories! Enjoy this sneak peek of their session!

Don’t forget to leave this sweet family some love in the comments! Also, you can check out Laura’s lovely work here.

Love the Rowe’s!! I felt the same connection when we first met and it was hard to let them go! But I adore this and what a fun and memorable idea. Beautiful family inside and out and you captured it seamlessly! All the feels!!

  2. Jennie says:

I seriously LOVE these so much! Such a fun session. Laura, your family is beautiful!!!
