Inspiration for a Bayside Wedding
Sacred Heart Chapel is a tiny, white, historic church that sits right on Mobile Bay in Fairhope, Alabama. It is quintessentially Southern and the perfect setting for a wedding! I have photographed many real weddings at this quaint chapel. When Mobile Bay Bride Magazine asked me to photograph this inspiration wedding for their 2018 issue, I immediately said yes! They were working with some of my favorite vendors in the wedding industry on this shoot and I knew that with the Mobile Bay editorial staff leading the way it would be amazing.
The day of the shoot drew near and of course there was rain in the forecast. I called Maggie, Executive Editor at MBB, and asked her if there was a rain plan. We certainly weren’t going to change plans until the last possible minute because, well, if you’re from around here you know how fickle our weather can be. So we said some prayers and somehow we lucked out with gorgeous weather the day of this shoot! Every detail came together so beautifully and I just kept pinching myself to make sure it was all real. As my friend Laura would say, it was a DREAM!
Because this shoot was a feature story, it incorporated a lot of elements. We had food, fashion, florals, table settings, and amazing jewelry! I was in photographer heaven with so many pretty things to photograph! This story was photographed in the winter, but publication wasn’t until April. It was SO hard to wait to share these images and I have been dying to blog some of my favorites ever since the issue hit newsstands. Since publication coincided with busy wedding season, I am just now getting a chance to put this post together! Only a handful of images fit into the magazine, so I hope you enjoy seeing the extras from this gorgeous styled shoot!
If you’re planning a Southern-style wedding, this post is definitely full of inspiration for you! Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the post for the list of contributors.
How amazing are these florals?! Wildflowers truly outdid themselves on these bouquets!
I love the design of this cake by Couture Cakes! It reminded me of ocean waves!
I love a black and white portrait!
The table setting, placecard and the custom linen napkins just happened to fit right in with my brand colors and my name. How perfect is that?! I was obsessed with this look!
John is an intern at Mobile Bay Magazine. I don’t think he had any idea when he took the job that it might include modeling, but he did such a fantastic job as our groom on this shoot!
This food looked SO delicious!
Here’s a little behind the scenes look at the team that helped out on this shoot!
Thank you to Mobile Bay Bride Magazine for this amazing experience!
