Celebrating One Year
This sweet family was visiting Mobile for a week and wanted family portraits that would showcase a distinctly Southern vibe. It doesn’t get much more Southern than Washington Square Park! This place has so many old oak trees and is dripping with gorgeous dreamy light during the late afternoon. This location is also perfect for families with young children. I was so glad it was the one the Fountains chose of the options I sent over!
Summer seems to be the season of milestones and this session was in celebration of baby boy turning one year old! I absolutely LOVE photographing kids at this age. They are so curious about everything and even though they are usually walking, they’re not so fast yet that they can run away from my camera faster than I can capture photos. The whole session feels like you’re just playing games with mommy and daddy. I love that Katie’s mom came along to help get their little guy’s attention. Most of the giggles I captured are thanks to her!
The Fountains live in California and our ever present humidity seemed extra sticky the day of this session. I found myself pondering what it must be like to live somewhere with summers that aren’t as hot and humid. It certainly would be a dream to do summer portrait sessions in a climate like that! Despite the heat, this session was so much fun and I’m so glad this family was able to take a bit of the south home with them in photos! I’m sure they were happy to leave behind the humidity though!
