A Spring Hill College Engagement

Erin was a bridesmaid in one of my 2020 weddings. She first contacted me about wedding photography a few days before Easter. The spring season is always so hectic, but I picked up the phone and called Erin to let her know I wasn’t sure about my availability on her date. As we were heading into the holiday weekend, I told her it may be longer than usual before I could confirm yes or no on my availability. I ended up emailing Erin back the Thursday before Easter to let her know that I was open on her date.

Fast forward to Holy Saturday and I’m at my church helping with the Easter Vigil Mass, which included taking a few photos afterwards for those who were joining the church. It wasn’t until I sat down to edit those photos and contacted my pastor to see if he had email addresses for those I photographed, that I realized Erin and her fiance, Austin, were in some of my photos! It was a crazy coincidence! I immediately emailed Erin, apologizing that I didn’t recognize her and mentioned that it was thanks to our pastor that I’d put the whole thing together.

When I didn’t receive an email back, I figured Erin had decided to book with another photographer. Oh how wrong I was!

Two Months Later

Two months later I received a voicemail and email from Erin. She had just stumbled upon my emails in her spam folder while searching for an email from our pastor, who is the priest officiating their wedding. Erin thought I just hadn’t had time to email her back, but the whole time my messages were hanging out in her spam folder! I was mortified, but also thankful that I mentioned our pastor’s name in my email to her. If I hadn’t, my email wouldn’t have come up in her email search!

I told Erin that this was proof that she was meant to be one of my brides for the 2022 season! It also served as a good reminder to both of us to check our spam folders often. I know I don’t check mine as regularly as I should.

Last week I finally got to meet up with Erin and Austin for their engagement session. They are such a sweet couple and I loved photographing them at one of my favorite locations, Spring Hill College. As we get closer to the end of September, it’s finally starting to feel like fall could be around the corner and that has me excited for all my fall weddings!
