A St. Paul’s Episcopal Wedding

It’s not often that I photograph wedding ceremonies in the morning, but I was so thankful that Katherine and Gregg’s ceremony was at 11am on this day because it all out stormed the entire afternoon! We definitely had the best of timing on this day for portraits. The morning light streaming through the trees in front of St. Paul’s Episcopal was soft and beautiful. After the ceremony, the perfect amount of clouds rolled in to soften the midday sun.

Katherine told me when we first chatted about wedding details that music was one of the most important details to her as far as wedding planning. As someone who was a serious violinist for several years, Katherine knew exactly who she wanted to play the violin at her own wedding.

While I knew she was having strings as part of her wedding music, I had no idea that a full choir was actually going to be singing as well. This was seriously some of the best music I have ever heard at a wedding! At the end of the ceremony, as Katherine and Gregg recessed down the aisle, Katherine glanced up at the choir and gave them a big smile and a wave. It was such a sweet moment!

Gregg and Katherine are seriously one of the most laid back couples I’ve ever worked with. They chose not to share a First Look, so we took all their bride and groom portraits after the ceremony. I love that we were able to get a good bit of variety in a short period of time due to all the beautiful portrait options at St. Paul’s. Best of all, it meant we were comfortably inside the reception venue by the time the storms rolled in!

I am still gushing over the gorgeous florals from this wedding by my friends at Revelry Bloom. The color palette was so perfect for spring and really popped against the blue bridesmaid dresses.

I usually save behind the scenes photos for the end of the year, but I love this one too much to leave out. Thank you to Katherine’s dad for helping with a veil toss photo!
