A Downtown Mobile Engagement Session

Sarah and Peter have a love of old things. When it came time to choose a wedding venue, they looked no further than the History Museum of Mobile. I love that Sarah’s mom gave her and Peter a vintage quilt right before they headed out to their engagement session. She had done the same for Sarah’s twin sister, Grace, when she was engaged a few years ago. We were about 30 minutes into the session when Sarah mentioned her mom had given them a quilt. I squealed with excitement!

For those of you who don’t know, I have had a life-long obsession with quilts. I am always amazed by vintage quilts because all the work was done by hand! I can’t imagine making something like that completely by hand. The minute I saw Sarah’s quilt, I knew exactly how I wanted to incorporate it into their portraits. The double wedding ring design was perfect for engagement photos!

The BEST part about working with a bride who is the sibling of a past bride is that you already know their family! Sarah’s dad was our chauffeur for this session, which meant we could save time from walking between locations. At the end of the session, he dropped us off at the Riverview parking garage and we used up every last bit of daylight with some rooftop photos. Sarah told me she loved the Van Antwerp building, which was Mobile’s first skyscraper when it opened in 1908, so it was the perfect place to wrap up their session. I can’t wait to spend wedding day with these two. Spring 2024 will be here before we know it!
