A Sacred Heart Chapel Wedding

Kate and Michael’s wedding day was a southern spring dream! It was our first warm wedding of the season, but a gentle bay breeze kept us from feeling too hot. I photograph a lot of Catholic weddings in the Mobile Bay area and Sacred Heart Chapel is definitely at the top of my list of favorite Catholic churches for a wedding.

Many of Kate and Michael’s guests were visiting the area from out of town. I love seeing someone who isn’t from the Mobile Bay area take in the view of the water from Sacred Heart Chapel. It’s easy to forget just how special this place is until you see someone taking it in for the first time.

The morning of the wedding, Kate and her bridesmaids got ready at Jubilee Suites, but I just couldn’t wait to get to Sacred Heart because I knew the light would be stunning with all the moss-covered oak trees. I practically leaped out of the trolley when it pulled into the church parking lot because I was so excited for portrait time at this stunning location.

Kate and Michael are the sweetest couple. At their engagement session, they told me about their happenstance meeting while they were in college at Auburn. Michael said he knew from that moment that Kate was special. I remembered that story as I photographed Kate walking down the aisle, noticing both she and Michael had tears in their eyes.

Kate is a very detail-oriented bride and her artistic talents featured throughout the wedding details. While their pups, Goose and Remi, weren’t present at the wedding, they were very much part of the details of the day. Kate even made mini models of them for the wedding cake! It was the cutest thing ever! Cheers to the newly Mr. and Mrs. O’Connor!
