A Golden Hour Engagement Session on a Farm
I photographed Mellanee’s son’s wedding in 2023. I remember her daughter-in-law, Natalie, telling me that Mellanee was so full of faith and trust in God. She lost her first husband when her children were young. Carl entered her life and their love story began. Fast forward to a few months ago when I got a call from Mellanee telling me the happy news that she and Carl were engaged! I was so happy for them, especially after getting to meet Mellanee at Natalie and Joseph’s wedding.
Mellanee is a ray of sunshine! The instant you meet her, you can see why Natalie describes her as a woman of great faith. When I first talked about wedding details with Mellanee, I found out one of her best friends was my fourth grade teacher (who also happens to be one of my all-time favorite teachers). I could not believe the connection! But of course these two women are good friends because they are both two of the kindest souls you could ever meet.
Carl is a veterinarian and lives on a cattle farm. When Mellanee asked if it would be ok to take their engagement portraits there, I instantly said yes. I have been on a roll of taking photos at private properties and it has been so much fun! I grabbed my Bean boots and headed for the farm. It was a perfectly dreamy Golden Hour afternoon. Carl took us on a tour before we started shooting. Thanks to their friend Jeremy, we were able to incorporate some of their much loved cows into the photos. It definitely took some treats in order to get them to cooperate!
As the sun dipped below the horizon line, I was sad that the day was over because we just had the BEST time roaming the property and taking portraits. Narrowing favorites down for this post was no easy task and I know wedding day with these two is going to be a dream!
