A St. Mary’s Catholic Church Wedding
St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Bragg-Mitchell Mansion have to be one of my favorite wedding day combos. Both are SO Mobile and timeless wedding day locations. I photographed Matthew’s sister’s wedding last year and I’ve known a lot of his family my entire life. The church I grew up in was much smaller than the church I attend now and everyone truly knew everyone else. It was like a big small town where you never saw a stranger. I vaguely remember when Matthew was born and can remember always keeping up with how many siblings and cousins he had through conversations with his grandmother, who also happened to be one of my teachers in high school.
Getting to reconnect with a family from my childhood through wedding photography is always extra special. It was such a treat to see so many familiar faces on this day! I think I first met Emmie and Matthew at Julia and DP’s wedding in 2023. I snapped a photo of them at the reception. I have a visual memory and rarely forget faces I photograph. I remember thinking that they were such a sweet couple even though I only interacted with them for a few brief minutes.
Fast forward to two years later and here we are celebrating Emmie and Matthew! Time truly flys by sometimes! I loved Emmie’s classic aesthetic. Every detail of this day was so carefully thought through. Thanks to the amazing team of Bella Victoria Events, all Emmie’s dreams for her day came true. From beginning to end, everything was perfectly timed. It even rained at just the right moment…when we were all safely inside the church for the ceremony…and it stopped just in time for the reception.
A Bragg-Mitchell Mansion Reception
Emmie and Matthew arrived at their reception in a vintage car. I loved that they chose to have a grand entrance in this way. They headed straight from the car to the dance floor. Once the formalities concluded, I noticed the sun had that perfect golden glow. The clouds had started to clear and the sunlight was sparkling through the damp leaves of the giant oak trees.
I always say the Bragg-Mitchell Mansion is the perfect wedding day venue and it truly is – rain, or shine. It is best showcased though when the reception begins early enough for guests to enjoy the golden hour, as was the case on this day. Everyone could take in the beautiful scenery while visiting and dancing. It was a beautiful setting for a gorgeous wedding for the loveliest couple. Enjoy my favorites from Emmie and Matthew’s stunning day!
