A St. Francis at the Point Wedding in Point Clear

From our first meeting, I could tell that Marlye was a super organized bride. I still remember the planner she had with her at our consultation and seeing all her carefully written notes. As I chatted about wedding details with her and her mom, Peyton patiently listened. I remember him saying that he wanted to do whatever made Marlye happy and whatever was easiest. How sweet is that?!

For a bride who plans in advance, lining up all the little details, dotting all the ‘i’s’ and crossing all the ‘t’s’, the last thing in the world that you ever anticipate having to deal with is a pandemic. Like so many couples who planned to get married in spring 2020, Marlye and Peyton had to postpone their plans for a May wedding. As the day drew closer, I started praying for good weather for their July date. I knew that Marlye has chosen a spring wedding because she didn’t want it to be too terribly hot. July down here can be quite hot and humid and I just prayed the afternoon thunderstorms would stay at bay.

While it was a tad warm the day of this wedding, it wasn’t nearly as humid as it’s been several other days. I know the guys were probably super hot in their tuxedos, but they never once complained. I was super thankful for the little wispy clouds that kept covering the sun throughout the day. This definitely cut down on the heat quite a bit. Another saving grace was having the option to shoot inside the gorgeous church where Marlye and Peyton were married. St. Francis at the Point is one of my favorite churches because of the abundant natural light that is let in by all the windows.

A Belforest Pointe Reception

Following the ceremony at St. Francis at the Point, Marlye and Peyton celebrated with family and friends at Belforest Pointe. This was my first time getting to shoot at this venue and it was a great space for a reception. I was surprised at how big it was and of course it looked beautiful! Previously I’d only seen photos of the inside and didn’t realize it was so spacious. When we first pulled up to the reception venue, I saw the sun dipping just behind the trees. Y’all, the glow was unreal! I met Marlye and Peyton as they stepped off the trolley and we raced to the field that’s at the edge of the property for some Golden Hour sunset portraits. It was sooooo dreamy!

Another new to me venue for this wedding was the getting ready location. Marlye booked a house that’s right in downtown Fairhope via VRBO for her and her girls to get ready and it was seriously a perfect choice. With tons of windows, neutral wall colors and plenty of space, this house was a photographer’s dream. Fun fact, I’d actually shot at this property a few years ago, but it’s undergone a full renovation since then. I didn’t even recognize it as the same place! What I loved about having access to the house was that there was plenty of space for the girls to get hair and makeup done and for me to shoot without all of us being in each other’s way. If you’re a bride looking for a getting ready location right in the heart of downtown Fairhope, definitely check this place out! It’s a gem!

Marlye and Peyton, thank you for allowing me to be part of your special day! Congratulations and best wishes for a life full of joy!
