A St. Mary’s Catholic Church Wedding
Sarah and Wes were my first engagement session of 2020. It’s crazy for me to realize that we’re already halfway through the year, which might be a good thing since this hasn’t been the greatest year so far. I’m holding onto hope that we’ll see light at the end of the pandemic tunnel soon!
While the current situation with the coronavirus did necessitate some adjustments for their wedding day, Sarah and Wes didn’t let it steal their joy. When I arrived at the bridal suite, Sarah was sitting in the makeup chair and the vibe in the room was so chill. Her bridesmaids were such a cheerful group, full of happiness for their sweet friend.
I loved that these ladies were so thoughtful about photos too. While Sarah was getting into her dress, they completely cleared the adjoining room of all snacks, makeup and other personal items so that there would be a clean space for the bridesmaids First Look. On top of that, they selected a spot with plenty of window light. These are my kind of girls!
Sarah and Wes didn’t want to see each other prior to the ceremony. While I do love a First Look, I also love photographing the groom’s reaction when he’s seeing his bride for the first time as she comes down the aisle. I turned to take a photo of Wes right when the doors opened and I could tell he had been waiting for this moment all day long! His smile said it all!
The Steeple Take Two
This was my second of two weddings in the same weekend and, ironically, I was at The Steeple for both receptions! This unique reception venue used to be a church and the stained glass windows that are in the main reception space are my favorite feature about this venue. Since this reception began in the afternoon, guests could see these windows in all their glory!
At the end of the night, Sarah’s dad – who also happens to be a photographer, jokingly told me he expected to see photos the next day. When I told him he’d have a sneak peek that night, he told me I should take the rest of the weekend off. He seemed stunned that I’d go home and edit after such a long day. But y’all know I love my sneak peeks, so of course I did edit a couple that night! After making Sunday a true day of rest, I jumped into culling and editing first thing Monday morning so that I could get both of these posts out today!
Congratulations Sarah and Wes! It was such a joy being part of your wedding day and capturing these moments for you! Cheers!
