A St. Paul’s Episcopal Engagement Session

Maggie and Edward love going for a daily walk in the Village of Springhill. The little chapel at St. Paul’s Episcopal is their turn around spot. In fact, they were on their daily walk when Edward proposed! Maggie says it was a normal day, but that when they got to the chapel, she noticed the doors were open. They stepped inside to look around and when Maggie turned to look back at Edward, he was down on one knee and holding a ring box!

When it came to choosing a location for their engagement session, St. Paul’s was the perfect choice. In addition to this location being part of their proposal story, they will be married in the big church later this year. It’s been a while since I last took portraits at St. Paul’s and I loved returning to the location. The prayer garden has been fully renovated since my last shoot there and it was such a pretty spot for portraits!

We had to reschedule this session once due to weather. I was worried that afternoon thunderstorms were going to force another postponement, but the rain stopped just in time! In fact, after the storms passed there was a coolness to the air and a breeze. It didn’t feel like a typical June evening in Mobile.

Maggie and Edward are so laid back and easy going. I just loved getting to know them a bit during the shoot. I also loved shooting in various spots at St. Paul’s. I had been eyeing the beautiful swath of limelight hydrangeas that lines the sidewalk in front of the church since they first started to bloom. I was hoping they would still be blooming for this session and they were! My vision was fulfilled!
