A Sacred Heart Chapel Catholic Wedding

I always love photographing weddings at Sacred Heart Chapel. However, the day of this wedding, I was concerned we would not be able to get portraits showcasing the beautiful scenery around this church. I watched the forecast all week and each day it seemed to predict an even higher chance of Saturday rain.

The morning of the wedding, I watched the weather forecast and heard 80 percent chance of rain and storms (over and over and over). I was so sad for Jordyn, who is the sweetest bride and loves photos. I knew she wanted outdoor portraits that showed where she and John were getting married!

We arrived at the bridal suite at 10:30 in the morning. The rain drops were just starting to fall upon our arrival. It seemed that we were in for a wet day. Lugging tons of extra rain gear along with our usual equipment bags, I at least felt prepared for the rain. We would make the best of whatever the weather was when we arrived at the church.

Just after Jordyn stepped into her dress, I noticed the window light in the room was getting brighter. I looked outside and, to my surprise, the clouds seemed to be lifting! The rain, which was only a light drizzle, had stopped. The sun seemed to be trying to come out. I was cautiously excited!!!

We had to be careful to not get Jordyn’s dress soaking wet as we took portraits at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear, but by the time we made it to the church the sun came out in full force and we had a picture perfect spring day! Two weddings in a row, I’ve been blessed to avoid the rain at just the right time!

The rain steered clear of Sacred Heart Chapel and The Grand Hotel for all of portrait time and did not return until the end of the reception. I’m still thankful for the blessing of this gorgeous weather for this sweet couple! Enjoy my favorites from their beautiful spring wedding!
