A Fairhope Engagement Session
I was so excited for two engagement sessions in a row held on private property! There is something about driving up to an unseen location that makes the creative juices start pumping in overdrive. The second I pulled up to Catherine’s parents’ home, I knew there were some very specific shots I wanted to capture before the session was over. But the front of the house was only the beginning!
When I knocked on the front door, the loveliest young couple welcomed me inside. I felt as if I’d somehow known them for many years. Catherine is a sweetheart and Jacob is a perfect gentleman. The two met while they were students at the University of Alabama and now live in Birmingham. They were in town for the weekend, so we decided to meet up at Catherine’s family’s home for the shoot. Since we were taking photos at their home, I was able to meet Catherine’s parents, brothers and some of her extended family who were visiting from Louisiana. It was great getting to meet them all before the wedding day!
While I was talking to Catherine’s dad, I found out that he had been my grandfather’s attorney. Suddenly, it hit me why their last name seemed familiar! I always remember my grandfather speaking well of his attorney who helped him get all his final affairs in order. The most important thing to my grandfather was his faith and his family. He certainly wanted to make sure his family was taken care of even after he was gone. And there I was, 12 years after my grandfather’s death, meeting the man who helped give him some of that peace of mind in his latter years. What a small world it is!
I just loved my time working with Catherine and Jacob. I have no doubt their wedding day will be one that is full of joy!
