A Christ the King Catholic Church Wedding
I remember when Mr. and Mrs. Gottstine celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary like it was yesterday. I felt it was the most important event I’d ever photographed outside of milestones for my own family. It is hard to believe that was back before I ever thought I’d have a photography business! Fast forward several years and I find myself photographing weddings for the grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. Gottstine! Talk about a full circle moment!
Knowing Sarah’s family and having met Alexander on their engagement session, I knew that we were in for a great day with two wonderful families coming together to celebrate the sacrament of matrimony. As I watched Sarah and Alexander exchange vows, I couldn’t help but think about my grandparents and Sarah’s grandparents and what a beautiful example they set for their families. After the ceremony, as I took extended family photos, I thought of my own family and how these types of photos fill our own family archives. What a treasure it is to be together to celebrate the start of a new family.
Before meeting Sarah, Alexander spent some time in seminary. It was so special that his good friend, Fr. Mark, was able to travel to Mobile to celebrate their nuptial Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church. I always love weddings here because it’s such a beautiful setting. Best of all, the bride and bridesmaids were able to get ready right across the street at the Immaculata Center, which saves so much time logistically.
Bayside Portraits + A New Reception Venue
After leaving the ceremony, we boarded a trolley and headed to the bluffs along Scenic 98. I love that we were able to incorporate some bayside portraits into Sarah and Alexander’s day. We just barely escaped the rain! As I was taking the last few portraits on the pier, I felt raindrops hit my face. I turned around and saw a large dark cloud. That was our cue to wrap it up and head to the reception!
The Apiary is a new wedding venue in downtown Fairhope. I had only seen photos of the space prior to this day and I have to say it looked even better in person than it did on Instagram! I LOVED the all-white interior, the patio area, the overall layout of the space and the fact that it had options for portraits out front. Talk about a photographer’s dream! I’m excited for my next visit to this venue later this year!
Prepare yourself for a massive preview of Sarah and Alexander’s day! I am having a harder and harder time narrowing down photos for my blog posts these days, but I just have too many favorites!
