A St. Joseph Chapel Catholic Wedding

I have learned a lot of things over the years photographing weddings. One thing I have learned is that St. Louis wedding traditions are slightly different than a typical Mobile wedding. When I first talked to Allison and her mom on the phone for their consultation call, I started talking about timing details and quickly realized that Allison wanted a St. Louis style wedding in Mobile. Thankfully, I knew exactly what that meant regarding timing of things, flow of the day and the reception plan.

Allison is a Spring Hill College alum who returned to “the Hill” to exchange vows with her groom, Andy. I always love photographing weddings on this campus. The iconic Avenue of the Oaks, the gorgeous chapel, the ample options for portrait backgrounds are all reasons to love this location. The morning of this wedding day it was raining hard. Mobile has been in a drought, so it was kind of hard to be mad about the rain…but I really, really wanted Allison to get the photos that she envisioned for her wedding day. I knew we couldn’t get all of them if it rained all day.

Allison was so calm the entire wedding day and mentioned several times that you can’t worry about the little things. I loved that she had this attitude. She even told me the day before that she had clear umbrellas and was ready to go, rain or shine. I think it’s just that kind of positivity that brought out the sunshine! The day that started out dreary, turned out DREAMY! Best of all, we had ample portrait time to hit all the must-have locations.
