A Garden-Themed Engagement Session

I’ve known Millie for quite a while now. I first met her while on a shoot for the University of South Alabama Mitchell College of Business. Millie was one of the students I was photographing for their publication, Mitchell Magazine. I found out that day that she was a graduate of McGill-Toolen Catholic high school. We then started connecting the dots and I realized we knew so many of the same people.
Millie and her group of friends were part of several photoshoots I did over the four years they were students at USA. I got to know them so well that I ended up going to their graduation! When Millie contacted me saying that she was engaged, I was so excited for her! When she asked if we could do some of their engagement portraits at her family home, I immediately said yes. Little did I know what a gorgeous setting waited for me!
There is a reason I love doing sessions on private property…you just never know what you will find! It often fuels creativity and it makes things more personal for my clients. There is a beautiful garden behind Millie’s family home. I was so excited to get to take photos in this space. I almost didn’t want to leave! However, we had also planned to take photos at the Mobile Botanical Gardens and Langan Park, so we inched our start time up 30 minutes to allow enough light to get to all three locations (which were very close together).
These three locations paired together so well! From gardenias, to hydrangeas, to dreamy sunset light – this session had it all! Choosing photos for this blog post was not easy. Enjoy my favorites from this engagement session with Millie and Antonio!
