Fairhope, AL Cotton Field Engagement

Cotton fields are hitting their peak this time of year. Southern snow, as some call it, fills the fields across Mobile and Baldwin counties. It’s a beautiful sight to see and a great spot for taking pictures, but it can be hard to secure permission to shoot in cotton fields. Cotton is a livelihood for many farmers in our area and it’s so important to be respectful of their crops, so I’ve long had a policy of not shooting in cotton fields without permission from the owner of the land. When Maggie told me she had secured permission for us to shoot at a friend’s cotton field, I could have jumped for joy! What is more dreamy and romantic than engagement portraits in a field of white cotton?!

I pulled into the driveway of this gorgeous property just before Maggie and Ross arrived and I instantly knew it was going to be an amazing session. Not only was the cotton field perfectly nestled among some beautiful trees, there was an orchard on the property that was also a beautiful location! Yes, we ended up with two amazing locations in one place! On top of that, these two perfectly coordinated their outfits for their location all the way down to the flowers that Maggie wore in her hair.

These two have such fun personalities, so when they casually mentioned during their session that they can do the lift from Dirty Dancing, I wasn’t sure if they were joking or not. It turns out, they could probably be on Dancing With the Stars because they can definitely do the lift and looked fabulous doing it too! And then this happened…YES, these two nailed the lift from Dirty Dancing and it was FREAKING AWESOME!!!
