Wedding Style Inspiration
Who is getting excited for the Royal wedding?! I remember hearing my mom talk about watching Lady Diana marry Prince Charles when I was a kid. Like much of the world, she woke up in the early hours of the morning to watch the wedding on tv. I can’t remember when I first became aware of the massive influence Diana’s gown had on wedding fashion, but I do know that two of my aunts had “Lady Di” inspired gowns for their wedding days, puffed sleeves and all. I was a flower girl in both of their weddings and I remember being in awe of how regal they looked.
So, naturally, in 2011 when Kate Middleton walked down the aisle to marry Prince William, I set my alarm for 4 a.m. and watched every second of the wedding coverage. When the now Duchess of Cambridge stepped out of the car at Westminster Abbey and the world got its first look at that gorgeous Alexander McQueen wedding gown, I was in awe of the exquisite design. It was simply breathtaking. As we approach this year’s Royal wedding, I find myself most interested in what Meghan’s dress will look like. Will she go for a ballgown style, or a sleek silhouette? What impact will her choice have on wedding fashion for the next few years?
Needless to say, I love a beautiful gown, so getting the opportunity to photograph this bridal fashion shoot for Mobile Bay Bride was an absolute dream! I have done shoots that incorporated fashion before, but this was my first fashion focused shoot and it was a TOTAL DREAM! We had the most gorgeous gowns, loveliest models, amazing flowers, a fantastic venue, killer hair and makeup artists and, of course, the phenomenal Mobile Bay Magazine editorial team.
This black and white portrait of Anna is definitely a forever favorite for me!

THIS. DRESS. Hands down, my favorite gown of the day. So romantic, so timeless, and so delicate.
This portrait of Bayley is also a forever favorite.
Can you tell that I love a black and white bridal portrait?
Another favorite! This one made it into the spread in color, but I love the richness of the black and white version too!
This look made me think of Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy, two of my favorite style icons.
These gorgeous bouquets were designed by Julia Greer Fobes, one of the sweetest and most talented floral designers I know.
I hear that this golden yellow is going to be THE color for bridesmaids dresses this year. It’s definitely a bold and fun color.
