A Fairhope Alabama Spring Wedding

It is always a treat to get to shoot at a new location. My first time to visit this gorgeous property was earlier this year for Megan and Mason’s engagement session. I knew that it would be a beautiful setting for a wedding and I was so glad that I was able to explore the grounds ahead of wedding day. I also knew that it would be fun to revisit this spot in a different season. We did the engagement session in January, so the landscape looked completely different than it did for their spring wedding! I thought it was beautiful in the winter, but the lush greenery of spring made me think I was in Narnia.

Megan and Mason put so much thought into every little detail of their day. It was a feast for the photographer’s eyes for sure! A little white chapel is perched on a hilltop that sits above the barn at this property. Since Megan and Mason were not sharing a First Look, we had to be careful that the two did not accidentally see each other ahead of ceremony time. Megan decided that she and the bridesmaids would get ready at that little chapel since Mason and the guys would be hanging out at the barn. It was seriously the best decision EVER! I was absolutely DYING over how amazing the light was and how much fun it was to photograph all the details in that space. I give major props to my team for helping me hang Megan’s dress from the chandelier. It was worth the effort!

I was recently telling a fellow photographer that as much as I love pretty details, for me, weddings have always been about the moments. I relish every opportunity I have to capture authentic and heartfelt emotion. Candid, fleeting moments, are what made me fall in love with photography. I have so many favorite moments from Megan and Mason’s wedding, but one of the most touching moments happened during the ceremony. Before the vows and exchange of rings, Megan and Mason chose to include a foot washing ceremony. Just as Jesus Christ washed the feet of his disciples as an act of love and humility, so did the bride and groom. I thought it was such a beautiful testimony to their faith and to the vows they were about to exchange.

I was a bit sad to see this wedding day come to an end! Time really does fly when you’re having fun, working with wonderful people and are in a beautiful location. Before we knew it, everyone was lining up for the sparkler exit and these two were saying their goodbyes. The lights from the barn and reception tent were glowing against the night sky. It was all such a dream.

Congratulations Megan and Mason! I thoroughly enjoyed documenting your special day and know you have many years of happiness ahead of you!

A something old and something blue all in one. Megan wore this family heirloom and carried a handkerchief that has been passed down through her family.

The wind was blowing Megan’s veil and she reached to hold it down. I gasped at what I saw and quickly grabbed this portrait. It’s definitely going into my favorites folder for 2018!

Aren’t these colors gorgeous?! I loved the greenery bouquets and the various shades of blush and lavender of the bridesmaid dresses!

Another favorite moment from this day was the bridesmaids and groomsmen praying over Megan and Mason before the ceremony.

I love this sweet moment captured by my second shooter, Anna.

Doesn’t this light look heavenly?!

I love getting a photo with the bride and groom at the end of a wedding because they’ve usually been part of my life for a good eight or nine months (or more!) by the time wedding day rolls around. Sometimes I forget to take one, but I’m glad I was able to grab a picture with Megan and Mason before their grand exit.
