St. Patrick’s Day Downtown Mobile Engagement

ma

Liz and Paul are college sweethearts. They met in an Organic Chemistry class while they were both students at Spring Hill College and have been together ever since! Y’all know I love a good love-at-first-sight story, but I especially love one that involves my own alma mater. Liz is so kind and nurturing. You can tell she was meant to be in the healthcare field because she just has such a calm presence. Paul is equally laid back and so very thoughtful. Together, they are the sweetest couple.

When I met with Liz and her mom for her bridal consultation, I loved hearing the story of how Paul proposed. Not only did he surprise his bride-t0-be, but he did so by flying across the country and coordinating a scavenger hunt. Liz’s whole family was in on the surprise and were there to celebrate the moment with them. How sweet is that?!

We ended up scheduling their engagement session for March 17th, the only Saturday I had open on my calendar. I didn’t think about it being St. Patrick’s Day at the time, but it turned out that was the most perfect stroke of luck because Liz has a love of all things Irish. Her engagement ring is even emerald green!

I love shooting in downtown Mobile because there are so many great backgrounds, even when there are crowds downtown it’s possible to find good places to shoot. I also love that as we walk between shooting locations, there is plenty of time to chat with my clients. It helps me to get to know them better as a couple. On this particular day we had to dodge both St. Patrick’s Day revelers and high school students that were downtown taking prom pictures. The fun thing was that we were able to shoot in all the spots we wanted to, even sharing the one spot that had azaleas still in bloom with some teens that were on their way to prom.

I guess we experienced the “luck of the Irish” on this day because the 50 percent chance of rain the forecast predicted did not arrive until after our session was over. We even got a tiny bit of glowy light at one point, which I was so grateful for!
