A Downtown Fairhope Wedding at The Balcony

While summer is the prime wedding season in most of the country, here in the Deep South, we wind things down towards the end of June. The heat and humidity are starting to set in strong by this point. Don’t get me wrong, I am SO thankful we don’t have to deal with snow in the winter months, but the heat can be brutal!

The day of Caroline and Will’s wedding, thunderstorms were chasing us all day. Thankfully, we made it to The Balcony just in the nick of time. I had to work in extra fast wedding day speed to get all the photos taken before the rain arrived. At one point, Will asked me if I was stressed. I told him that I wasn’t but that now was the time to work as fast as possible. I knew that rain was coming for us. And it did!

Miraculously, the blowing rain stopped in time for the chairs to be set up on the porch prior to the ceremony. As it turned out, the cloud cover and rain cooled things off significantly, just in time for the outdoor ceremony.

Just before sunset, we headed down to the Fairhope Pier for some portraits by the bay. Caroline and Will rode in a vintage car, while we followed in my assistant’s car. I have never been so thankful for a sunroof! It allowed me to take one of my favorite photos of the day!

An Epic Exit

Caroline’s parents planned a surprise for the grand exit at the end of the night. The Excelsior Band arrived to wrap up the party with a Second Line! Caroline and Will had no idea this surprise was waiting outside for them. They were so excited when they heard the music start up as they walked outside!

The Second Line made its way up and down the street before the newly Mr. and Mrs. Solomon hopped back in the vintage car for their departure. It was such a fun exit and the best way to wrap up a wonderful spring/summer season!

Thanks to Maggie’s sunroof, I was able to capture this photo!

We ended up at Fairhope Pier at the PERFECT time! Look at this gorgeous sky!!!

This was the moment the Excelsior Band started playing!

Best. Surprise. EVER! Look at how excited they are!!!
