A Downtown Mobile Wedding
There is nothing quite like that moment when a bride comes down the aisle. This was my first wedding to photograph at The Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception since I was a bridesmaid in my sister’s wedding there last month. Just walking inside brought up all the memories of that day – the sight of her coming down the aisle with my dad, the smile on my mom’s face, and the sound of the music that filled the sanctuary. I literally get chills just thinking about it, which is probably why when Bailey came down the aisle on this day, I felt my eyes watering up.
Bailey and Dave postponed their wedding from it’s original date due to the coronavirus pandemic. I don’t often take on double headers – weddings on back-to-back days – but moving to a Friday was the only way Bailey and Dave were able to make their plans work with all their vendors. I know two of Bailey’s sweet grandparents from church, our moms are friends, and she is friends with many of my other brides. It would have made me so very sad to not be able to photograph her wedding. I’m thankful it worked out that I was able to be there on her new date! I know having to change plans must have been stressful, but these two finally got their dream day and it was absolutely perfect!
Thanks to the team at Jenna Laine Weddings, this day could not have gone smoother. I am always amazed at how they are always on top of everything, ensuring that the day flows well. Unexpected things happen on every wedding day and having someone to take care of those things when they happen is beyond worth the investment.
The Steeple on St. Francis
While I’ve photographed several non-wedding events at The Steeple over the past few years, it’s been a few years since I’ve photographed a wedding at this venue. It was fun to be back at this beautiful space in the heart of downtown Mobile. The bride’s room at this venue is one of my favorites and I was so glad that Bailey chose to put on her dress here. The space has a good bit of natural light and can be partitioned so that the bride can get dressed in one part of the room, while the bridesmaids are hanging out on the other side.
I also love that The Steeple provided us with an indoor option for family portraits. While I love natural light portraits and they are a large part of most of my wedding days, the summer months can be really hot. If you’re sharing a First Look with your groom, it also means you’ll likely be outside in the hotter part of the day for those portraits, so it’s nice to have a break from that heat if possible. Stepping inside for family portraits was a nice reprieve from the heat for everyone, myself included! Of course I also made sure to grab a portrait of Bailey on the staircase as well!
Since I photographed both of these weddings in the same weekend, I’m sharing both of these blog posts on the same day. I didn’t want to make one bride wait longer than the other! Enjoy this preview of Bailey and Dave’s beautiful day and check back in a few hours for a preview of Wes and Sarah’s day!
