A Kalioka Stables Wedding
I can hardly believe it’s been over a year since my last wedding at Kalioka Stables! The family that owns this property is so sweet and it was such a pleasure to get to see them again for Katie and Kendrick’s wedding on Saturday. I also enjoyed getting to work with Kendra Lee on another wedding this year. She kept the day running smoothly despite having injured her knee the morning of the wedding. Wedding days are long and I seriously don’t know how she was on her feet all day while dealing with knee pain. On top of working with great people, we also had beautiful weather on Saturday. I was so excited because it felt like fall was in the air!
Katie looked like a princess in her gorgeous wedding gown. She also chose the most perfect veil for veil toss photos! It was lightweight and easily caught in the breeze. I love that Katie was just as excited about the veil shots as I was. They are so often my favorites from a wedding day! Side note, if you want a veil that really flies in the wind, steer clear of heavy beading and lace on the edges. It will make it harder to get that veil to gently float for portraits. Lighter veils also save you from a veil induced headache!
One of my favorite parts about shooting at Kalioka Stables is the dreamy golden hour light that the property gets right before sunset! On the day of Katie and Kendrick’s wedding it was extra amazing and I’m so glad these two decided to take the time to do a few “Just Married” portraits before heading to their reception.
Speaking of the reception, Katie and Kendrick brought the house down with their choreographed first dance. They took us all by surprise by starting out with a slower paced song before breaking out into an energetic dance that had everyone cheering! It was the highlight of the night for sure!
Congratulations Katie and Kendrick! Thank you so much for having me be part of your special day! May you have many happy years of dancing together!
There was barely any light left when I noticed the three flower girls playing near the pond. I asked them to pose for this photo and it turned out to be one of my favorite shots from the day!
