A Spring Hill College Engagement
Dan knew he could surprise Sarah with his proposal if he planned it around going on a walk with their dog, Bear. Sarah describes Bear as “our heart” – she didn’t think anything was out of the norm when Dan suggested taking Bear on a walk. They were living in Minneapolis for Dan’s fellowship at the time, so Dan suggested a trip to the Lake Harriet Rose Garden. Sarah happily went along with the plan. It wasn’t until Dan got down on one knee and proposed that Sarah realized this was no ordinary walk. She was completely surprised, but said it was the easiest question she’s ever answered. How sweet is that?!
Special Memories of Stewartfield
Sarah’s grandfather was the social director at Spring Hill College for about 15 years. She always loved the campus and envisioned the Stewartfield house, which was so special to her grandfather, being part of her wedding day. I love that her dream is finally becoming a reality!
This also meant that we made a point to stop by Stewartfield during the engagement session. There are many beautiful spots at Spring Hill and it’s challenging to make it to all of them on a wedding day. That’s why I love when my Spring Hill couples also want to take engagement portraits here! Best of all, Bear made an appearance in a few of the portraits and he just about stole the show!
Sarah is one of those people that makes you feel like you’ve known her forever. From the minute I first talked to her on the phone, I knew we were going to get along great. I had already met her mom at church and knew we had many friends and acquaintances in common. When Sarah and Dan arrived at their engagement session, I felt like I was greeting an old friend. How does that even happen when you’ve barely gotten to know each other on the phone. Some would say that is the Southern way, but I say that’s just how the Mobile Bay area is and I love that about my home town.
