A Dauphin Island Engagement Session

It’s the season of sibling engagements and weddings! I LOVE working with families I know and I especially love when that means I’m getting to work with them on more than one wedding day. This summer I photographed Matthew’s sister’s wedding. A few months prior to that wedding, Lindsey told me that her brother was planning to propose to his girlfriend in the near future.

When the day came that Matthew asked Emmie to be his wife, I received a text from Lindsey asking for my 2025 availability. I love a girl who plans in advance and especially love a bride looking out for her future sister-in-law the way Lindsey was looking out for Emmie. A few weeks later, Emmie and I were able to chat on the phone. I instantly knew I was going to love working with her and Matthew as much as I loved working with his sister, Lindsey.

Summer on the Island

I got to meet Emmie and Matthew in person at Lindsey and Bryant’s wedding, but we didn’t get a ton of time to chat that day. I was so excited to meet up with them for engagement portraits a few months later. Emmie and Matthew are both in Medical School, which meant their window for squeezing in an engagement session was quite narrow. We planned a session date and penciled a backup date on the calendar just in case we were rained out on their preferred date.

The day of the session arrived and the weather was absolutely GORGEOUS! Emmie grew up near the beach and Matthew grew up in Mobile. The mix of trees and water scenery provided by Dauphin Island was the perfect choice for their session. I don’t get down to the island much in the thick of the summer season, but I love it this time of year when school is back in session and the beach isn’t as crowded.

My time with Emmie and Matthew just flew by! Before I knew it, we were saying our goodbyes. I drove home knowing I was going to have the hardest time choosing sneak peeks because the light on this day was beyond dreamy!!! Emmie and Matthew truly couldn’t have chosen a more perfect day for this session. Now it’s time to pray we get equally beautiful weather for their wedding day next year!
