A Fairhope, AL Engagement

January has been the month of engagement sessions around here! I think it’s because things settle down a bit after the holidays are over. It’s a good time to schedule a session before spring arrives and everything gets busy again. This time of year can be a bit hit-or-miss with the weather in Mobile, Alabama. I was very thankful that I lucked out with nice weather for all of this month’s shoots, especially since three couples I photographed were traveling in from out-of-town for their sessions!

I first spoke to Megan on the phone last fall. She told me that she and Mason met through participating in the Young Life program in Tuscaloosa. I wasn’t familiar with Young Life, but Megan shared that it was a ministry for community and spiritual development that was focused on building strong relationships. She and Mason have both served as leaders for the college program, working to positively impact the lives of students at The University of Alabama who participate in the program at the college level. I love that they are both so passionate about that mission. There is such a need for strong community in our world today!

Megan and Mason are getting married on a family farm and we decided to do their engagement session at the same location. I absolutely LOVE shooting on private property! New surroundings are so inspiring! I could immediately see why Megan and Mason chose this beautiful spot for their wedding when I arrived for this session. It is quiet, peaceful and amazingly beautiful.

I followed the road until I came across the barn. It was perfectly nestled among some younger trees and right near a small pond. There was a little white chapel was perched on top of a hill a bit further down the road. It was a wonderful location for an engagement session. I was having a serious brain-overload of ideas! Plus, all I could imagine was how much fun it’s going to be to take bride and groom portraits of these two on wedding day!

Megan and Mason, I can’t believe I won’t be seeing you two again until May! I’m looking forward to seeing your wedding day vision brought to life. I know it is going to be wonderful!

I’m obsessed with these trees! They look so architectural when they’re all bare-branch. I can’t wait to see how different this spot looks in the spring! šŸ™‚

Just look at that gorgeous blue sky!!! I’m still amazed that we saw sunshine at all!

And we got a tiny bit of golden light too!!!
