A Spring Hill College Engagement

James knew Mary Catherine was the one. And so did Mary Catherine’s grandmother. She even gave James her own ring to present to Mary Catherine when he proposed to her. I love when engagement rings have such special stories behind them! Y’all also know that I love a college sweetheart story and this is my second one in a row!

Mary Catherine and James met while they were attending Rhodes College. The two were paired up as co-leaders for a program for freshman. It sounded very much like the freshman seminar leader program we had at Spring Hill during my days there as a student. James was two years older than Mary Catherine, but these two hit it off immediately and have been together ever since. When it came time to select a location for their engagement session, Mary Catherine and James selected Spring Hill College because all the old oaks on campus reminded them of a similar area on campus at their alma mater.

I asked these two if they were nervous at the start of their session because most couples are. They said they were a tiny bit nervous, but you would not know it from these pictures! Mary Catherine and James absolutely blew me away with how comfortable they were in front of the camera. I was so thankful that they trusted me 100 percent, as I picked out some new spots for photos that I’d previously never used on campus at Spring Hill. Best of all, we had the most gorgeous golden light for their session, even though the first half of the day had looked gloomy. This session is yet another reason why you can make a call on the weather around here until really close to the session start time!
